Book mummification museum luxor tour day

Pick you up from your hotel in Luxor, drive by air-condition modern vehicle to visit Luxor Museum which stands on the corniche, overlooking the River Nile, in the central part of the city. Luxor Museum contains the best displays of antiquities in Egypt, in the museum a nice collection from Tutankhamun’s tomb, including his funerary bed, model boats and a box of canopic jars. Luxor Museum is a dramatic showpiece for ancient Egyptian cultural heritage as it also houses items from periods after the demise of pharaonic Egypt. The royal mummies of two pharaohs ( Ahmose I and Ramesses I ) were also put on display in the Luxor Museum, as part of the new extension to the museum, which includes a small visitor centre. A major exhibit is a reconstruction of one of the walls of Akhenaten’s temple at Karnak. These beautiful sculptures had been buried (for reasons unknown) in the floor of the courtyard where they lay forgotten for over 2000 years. Many of these statues today look as though they have just come out of a sculptor’s workshop. Although Luxor Museum collection is limited in the number of items, but they are beautifully displayed. Proceed to visit the Mummification Museum, it is intended to provide visitors with an understanding of the ancient art of mummification. The purpose of mummification in ancient Egypt was to preserve the body of the deceased so that they could dwell in the afterlife, in the realm of the gods. The Ancient Egyptians applied embalming techniques to many species, not only to dead humans. Mummies of cats, fish and crocodiles are on display in this unique museum, where one can also get an idea of the tools used. Also in the Mummification Museum you will see a collection of well-preserved mummy-cases, mostly from the dryer climate of Upper Egypt, is displayed in the entrance to the museum along with a statue of Anubis, the jackal-headed god who leads the dead into the underworld. After finishing your tour, then drive back to your hotel in Luxor. Tour Including Private A/C Bus, English speaking Guide and Enterance Fees.
